“Home” is a series shot along the Fox River Trail in Aurora, Illinois, near coordinates 41.766900, -88.308955. Depending on your direction, the trail connects to RiverEdge Park and downtown Aurora. I created this work in November 2024, after discovering a hidden but significant location where unhoused individuals gathered—before the city later dismantled it during Christkindlmarket. The series Home is not ironic, but it is confrontational. It documents an individual’s home and how anyone can make a space. I find the lives of homeless people intriguing, but I chose not to photograph them directly; instead, I let their absence speak. There’s a sense of presence through the objects left behind—like the items belong there, quietly asking us why.
